Ninety-three year old Clara Cannucciari got through the Great Depression of the 1930s by compromising in the kitchen, bigtime. Using the techno-wizardry of the internet, she has decidewd to share her know-how with an online cooking show called depression cooking with clara!

The show gives an insight into how simple it is to make penny pinching dinners that are actually not so bad on flavour. She’s pretty goofed out and shares some wacky stories too. The show brings entertainment and wise, practical information on how to compromise successfully during slightly tougher times.

Looks like there’s some revived interest in this classic movie, Green Dolphin Street. The film had four Academy Award Nominations. It features an exotic setting for a standard 1940s romantic drama, but it’s pretty convincing.

The plot is as follows: After running away from the British Navy and living a new life in New Zealand, a sailor sends for his special girl, but hilariously gets her also-smitten sister as well – double trouble. Tiger woods has been beaten by Tim Clark of South Africa, who has played 16 holes without a bogey and then for a good back nine Thursday to beat Woods in the Accenture Match Play Championship with a 4-and-2 victory, nice. Woods holes 50 foot bunker shot for birdie on the 14th hole and seemed to run, but the TEE hole shot on 15 hit a cart path and went over a fence and out of bounds, the cost of the hole.

But the good news for golf is that it is unlikely to wait for eight months again. Woods will play in two weeks in CA DORAL in the league, but said it would wait to see how his left knee felt. This was his first tournament since the reconstructive knee surgery a week after winning the U.S. in June Open. When asked whether to go from here, Woods replied: “To the airport.” A sharp wit!

Euthanasea – is it right or wrong, or is there no right answer? The debate is sparked up again as 4 members of the “Final Exit Network” were arrested yesterday and accused of providing assisted suicide, ilegally, in the demise of John Celmer (58) in June 2008. The Georgia-based organization says it is providing an invaluable and humane service but it is strictly against the law to perform a euthanasea service. John Bankhead of Georgia Bureau of Investigations said that “The law is very clear, and they clearly violated it”.

If you want to join the Final Exit Network, it will set you back fifty dollars. The service is that hen you’re ready to die or so you think, the Final Exit Network will send some “exit guides” to take you through suicide using some helium tanks and a plastic hood – inventive, painless?

Interestingly, the Final Exit Network members are not very pleased with the term assisted suicide being used for their work, protesting that they do not aid suicides but rather support those who wish to make a quick & sneaky exit. Should they be allowed to do this?

Hollywood celebrities online – news here, as Gwyneth Paltrow responded disapprovingly to several critics of her website GOOP.com, which is a lifestyle newsletter. She said “I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don’t really get it, because if they did, they would like it…” at a New York charity event for Bent on Learning.

The accomplished actress made it clear that she thinks the criticism simply stems from the fact that she’s getting into something novel and not much seen before. She said “I think that people like people to stay in their ‘box’” – and nobody ever criticised Paltrow for not thinking outside the box!

Some very sad news here, as the previous Chicago Bulls broadcaster & guard, 3 time all-star Norm Van Lier, was uncovered having died Thursday afternoon in his house – at the age of sixty-one. Norm Van Lier, who started his NBA in 1969 with Cincinnati, then went on to pass more than 6 seasons with Chicago Bulls before, in 1979, ending with Milwaukee. His career finished with with 8,770 points and 5,217 assists – not half bad!

The fire department were dispatched to Norm Van Lier’s home after a request for a well being check was issued. Lier was found not to be responding just prior to one PM. At the scene, he was sadly pronounced dead officially, and this was seconded by Cook County’s examiners office. Norm Van Lier served as a defensive standout and a highly popular fixture, and he was dubbed “Stormin’ Norman” – probably due to his fiesty and furious play style. You’ll be missed, Stormin’ Norman.

Congratulations to 57-year-old fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger, who is to be a father once more He’s been married to Dee Ocleppo for 2 months, and she already is 3 months pregnant with the couple’s first child together – they say they “couldn’t be more excited”. But, as we well know, Tommy has other children! They are from previous relationships (4 of them), the most famous being twenty-four year old Ally Hilfiger who starred on the highly amusing if aggravating 2003 MTV reality show, called Rich Girls. Just what is going on with the Grim Sleeper serial killer? Well the killer, who police say murdered various individuals from 1985 to 2007, was dubbed the Grim Sleeper because he seemed to take a break between homicides, police said – why not call him the grim kit kat? God, sorry. The grim sleeper is wanted in 11 deaths and another homicide attempt. The cops this week released an emergency call recorded just after a killing in 1987, in the hope of producing any new clues as to who the sleeper is. They have the Grim Sleeper’s DNA, and a $500,000 reward has been offered if the grim sleeper is found.

The call went thus – “Yes … I’d like to report a murder, the guy that dropped her off was driving a white and blue Dodge van. He threw her out. … He threw a gas tank on top of her. All that you can see sticking out is her feet.” He may be lazy, but the grim sleeper may be more inventive than we guess. The authorities found the scene just as the caller described, but they are still searching for the caller and members of the church that owned the van – well it can’t be easy now can it.

Respectable Bus driver Jim Moffett, 58, who has come to be known as a biblically inspired “Good Samaritan”, got several bones broken and internal brain bleeding after heroically shoving 3 others aside of the path of an oncoming truck. But his trouble does not end there – according to Rocky Mountain News, he has been given a tickt for the heinous crime of Jaywalking!

Moffett, a passenger and the 2 elderly people he was trying to help had almost got across the road when the reckless driver of a truck hit them. “He plowed right into my stepdad,” son in law Ken McDonald says.

State patrol officer Ryan Sullivan states that although Moffett was just trying to be a good samaritan, the accident was caused by the awful crime of Jaywalking! But it’s not all bad, as the truck driver was also given a hefty charge.
