In February 2007, Montag started working on an album with producer David Foster. In fact he reported that Montag has a per-song contract with Warner Bros., not a complete contract for an album so both Montag and her then fiance now husband, Spencer Pratt claimed. On 16 August 2007, Ryan Seacrest introduced in the opening song, “Body Language”, with collaboration of Spencer Pratt rapping, on his radio show on KISS-FM station. Despite this, he said the song would not be the first single. Just on 5 February 2008, the first single from Heidi, “Higher” was released through iTunes, and simultaneously the video of the song, recorded by her then boyfriend Spencer Pratt, however, both the song as the video received negative comments from the media and the public. The following month, Montag released her second single “No More,” through iTunes, receiving positive reviews. In June 2008, Montag released a single entitled “Fashion,” along with another song entitled “One More Drink”. On 18 August 2008, Montag released the single “Overdosin ‘” which also featured a promotional video, like “Higher”, only this time the critics was mixed. In April 2009, Heidi launched what would be the first single from their debut album with Ryan Seacreast air, the song titled “Look How I’m Doin ‘”. Within days of its launch on the web filter a video teaser of the song, to promote sale on iTunes. The 17th of that month, Montag released a song titled “Blackout,” which later was successfully converted into a single, but the music video for the song received mostly negative reviews. Anticipating his debut album, was released an EP titled “Wherever I Am” containing 4 tracks confirmed for the album and a remix of “Look How I’m Doin ‘”.

After losing streak with its simple filter is a song called “Trash Me” which received positive feedback on the web, while said Heidi debut album titled “Unleashed” and the single with the same name would be released along with the album. Later this information is denied and confirmed that the first official single from the album, eventually titled “Heidi Montag” would be the song “Body Language”. On August 8, the song was officially released in its final version and confirmed that Heidi would be presenting the live at Miss Universe 2009 from the Bahamas. On 23 August 2009, Heidi was presented at the Miss Universe pageant, featuring the first single “Body Language”. The performance received negative criticism by the entertainment media. Finally, his debut CD is confirmed to have the license “Surface” and be released in digital format on 12 December 2009, and in physical format in January 2010.
