Jelani Jenkins moves to Florida

National signing day is usually about the rich getting richer, and that’s what happens with the national champion Florida Gators landing Lineback Jelani Jenkins of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland.

Jenkins is Florida’s highest-rated recruit this year, and generally recognized as one of the 10 best players from high school in the country. The 6-foot-2, 220 pounds Jenkins is only 16 years, and is the No. 10 recruit in the country in the Rivals 100 and No. 9 on the recruitment of ESPNU 150.

Jenkins, who has cut the long hair worn in the last Under Armor All America game, read a long speech thanking the many individuals and detailing the recruitment process before announcing its decision.

“It’sa great program,” says Jenkins. “I felt comfortable with all the coaches, all players and is a great time.”
