Matt Logelin

On March 24, 2008, Matt Logelin posted on the arrival of his wife Liz and happy new baby. Madeline was born small – 3 lbs. 14 oz. – But healthy. The blog had a horrible turn when Liz died when a day later after a fatal blood clot lodged in his lung. “It’s an understatement to say that my life has changed,” he told ParentDish.com. “I had a birth and a death in 27 hours.”

In a way, however, his blog (and the community, mostly women, who grew up around it) saved his life. That the public brackets, often strong 400,000 a day, has offered the 31-year-old widow and single parent support, comfort, advice and, most importantly, an opportunity to give back to others struggling single parents.
