However, a few years later, in 1946, Stratton stunned the baseball world when they pitched back to minors. His return to baseball was rough sledding the other groups, because persistently bunted balls out of reach, but Stratton was finally able to make a successful return win 18 games with the C-Class Sherman East Texas League. The attempt to return was the subject of the film The Stratton Story (Sam Wood, 1949), which starred by James Stewart and June Allyson, with bigleaguers Gene Bearden, Bill Dickey Jimmy and dikes in jewel views – which is fine.
