Colleen Pierson, press entertainment writer, interviewed Rick on many occasions, often on the subject of his health difficulties. She said of Rick Beckett that he “was always very honest about the challenges he faced in his life with health issues and made numerous lifestyle changes to stay healthy, I will miss his quick wit, personable nature, gift of gab, and how he made you feel special. He always appreciated his WOOD AM family and his beloved pets.” Rick Beckett will be sorely missed by his radio listeners and his friends and family.

I always listened to Rick and Scott when driving between Ionia and Grand Rapids. I enjoyed the banter between the two and appreciated the way current events were handled during the show. I certainly will miss hearing Rick’s comments, both serious and funny. My thoughts and prayers are with those who loved him so much.

I lived in Kalamazoo for many years and always listened to Rick and Scott when they did the morning show at GRD. I don’t live in the area anymore otherwise I definitely would have listened to them at WOOD A.M. Rick was SO funny! Rick and Scott made a great pairing and I really enjoyed listening to them. I hope somebody takes in Rick’s pets! My heart felt condolences to his friends family. Rest in peace Rick!
