Ruth Badger of the Supreme Court hospitalized

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the only woman currently on the highest court in the country, underwent surgery Thursday for the removal of a cancerous tumor from his pancreas.

Ginsburg, 75, is being treated at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Ginsburg has served on the court since 1993.

She was treated for colon cancer 10 years ago.

Ginsburg of pancreatic cancer was discovered early in the course of a routine annual screening, but the literature says that even in this case, a patient five-year survival of 10 to 30 percent.
