Ryan Whitney Traded for Eric Tangradi & Chris Kunitz

Chris Kunitz, who plays left wing, was aware his name had been spawning rumour, but it’s doubtful he anticipated he would be involved in dealings the Ducks might carry out – before the NHL trade deadline, on Wednesday. Thursday morning, he said “I’m a little shocked,” via phone after the Ducks traded Kunitz and Eric Tangradi (junior prospect) to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Ryan Whitney. David McNab, Ducks senior vice president, was charged with announcing the news of this change.

More from Kunitz – “I knew from the situation that we’re all in, both trying to make the playoffs, just the way it is with the salary cap and space, I knew that was obviously factored in there, but yeah, I’m definitely shocked,”

He also said – “It’s going to be tough now, but hopefully it will be something that will work in the future, I’m definitely excited to see some of their centermen and young players. You have to wait and see when you talk to the coach.”
